The Barbeque Nation

Barbeque Nation, one of the most popular casual dining restaurant chains in India. For all those people who can gorge, this is equivalent to food paradise. This is the place to go if you love kababs or if you want to eat variety of food. Since this is right next to our office, I have been to this place N-number of times (really lost count). They keep changing their menu from time to time with a concept of live on-the-table grill. The restaurant offers a pre-fixed menu with a fixed price and the menu is drawn from Mediterranean, American, Oriental, Asian and Indian subcontinent.

Last week when I visited this restaurant with friends from my office, there was a festival going on. With the theme “Pat Chapman’s Grills The World” BBQ Nation had partnered with UK’s Curry King Pat Chapman for a whole new Barbeque experience during Festive October across the country. Patrick Lawrence Chapman, who amongst other numerous titles, has been called ‘The Ambassador of Indian Food’ and the ‘Curry Leader’ by renowned food reviewers in Britain, has also been credited by Daily Mail for ‘Baltifying Britain’ for his bestseller cookbook – the first among 36 recipe books penned down by him with cumulative sales topping 1.5 million copies. Pat was a regular guest chef on the QE2, the leading luxury liner, for many seasons, and the Hilton and the Taj. Such is his understanding of the nuances of spices that he has been called upon by the Government of India in Kerala, to lecture on spices.

The following were the spread laid out during this festival:

The taste of all the dishes were really good. The starters were above and beyond. The price is bit on the higher side but considering the spread, few restaurants would give you such variety at this price. If you are going to treat a large group of people (e.g. team lunch etc), you need to keep tab on the expense. Remember, you get a discount on the lunch buffet if you go by 12:00pm.
